PSO Reaffirms Support for the National Outreach Programme
Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and LUMS have reaffirmed their longstanding partnership to make world-class education accessible to all through a new agreement. Present at the signing ceremony were Mr. Babar Chaudhry, Trustee, PSO CSR Trust; Brig Rizwan Ahmad SI (M), (Retired), General Manager Administration, Security Services and CSR, PSO; Ms. Sajida Malik, Assistant Manager, PSO CSR Trust; and Mr. Anas Ashraf Ali, Head of Development, LUMS.
The ceremony, held at PSO House, Karachi, marked the handover of a cheque to sponsor the studies of talented scholars from the National Outreach Programme (NOP) at LUMS. These students hail from underserved regions, including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Interior Sindh, Southern Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Initiated in 2001, the NOP furthers the University’s longstanding vision of providing premium education to talented students across the country, regardless of their financial background. The Programme has won the global Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 in the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category. The CASE Platinum Awards recognise world-class programmes and practices in educational advancement.
Since 2018, PSO has supported the education of 20 NOP scholars, reflecting its continued commitment to making quality education accessible to all. This new sponsorship further cements PSO’s dedication to empowering students from disadvantaged communities.
In addition to the formal signing of the agreement, the event also provided an opportunity for both entities to discuss other avenues of collaboration with the aim of strengthening the existing partnership.
The PSO CSR Trust continues to play a pivotal role in social development across the country, with ongoing initiatives in education, healthcare, community development, environmental conservation, and disaster relief. Through these efforts, PSO remains committed to its vision of creating a brighter future for Pakistan.
